Art Lately: Rad Babes and Zines

Notice the new header and portrait? I told you guys I'd been super busy with  art lately!

I'm working on this zine idea I have, a zine about Teenage Monsters, like ghosts and that vampire babe up there. So stay tuned for that.

This lady is inspired by the amazing Wishcandy.

And I finally scanned in my Historical Heroines project from last semester! They're a set of 50 trading cards featuring heroic ladies of history! Pretty proud of these.

You can find me on etsy and tumblr for more! I changed my tumblr url so it's more profesh.

Rad Femme

My hair is finally practically perfect! The pretty peach kept fading so fast, so I put in some magenta dye that made me look like a damn highlighter. After a couple of washes, all but the roots have faded to a pretty perfect shade of pink. It's really hard to find things that look good with this color, though, so I think I'll be wearing more blues and neutrals in the coming weeks!

I was a little nervous to go out in public on the first and brightest day, but even though I've gotten a few stares from old people, almost no one has made any remarks. Other than kids. I walk by families and the children are like "WOAH. PINK HAIR." They can't take it.

If you're curious, what you see here is a mix of Manic Panic's Bubblegum Pink, New Rose, and Hot Hot Pink on hair that was bleached from red and is a light shade of orange, except for the roots area, which is light yellow. I've washed it twice in hot water (in an attempt to make it fade faster lolol).

I locked my keys in my car on Friday. I wish I could say that it wasn't the 7th time in my college career that I'd had to call AAA, but I had to wait around feeling like an idiot again. It was my fault, but that didn't make me want to blame the world any less while I waited for an hour in a grungy gas station while skeezy dudes asked me for lighters and complimented my outfit. Like sir, I'm sure you probably mean well, but I am a girl alone in a sketchy gas station. Can you please keep your compliments to yourself?

Then, this weekend, Travis took me to Ulta and let me pick out a makeup! I got some Urban Decay Heavy Metal Liner <33 and couldn't resist buying a Too Faced copper shadow myself! That more than made up for my own lame forgetfulness, I was like a kid in a candy store!

And I love my new tote bag by Lize Meddings!

Etsy Update: Valentines Day Cards

I know I just posted my art, but it's incredibly important that you go and get Valentine's Day cards for your loved ones! I just listed a bunch in my shop, and the couple's portrait would make a super sweet gift for your best pal, bf, or cat!!

Gallery Show Outfit

Thank you guys so much for your support on my last post. Since the teacher wasn't offensive in my second class, I've decided not to report him for now, but one of my friends confronted him about it, and if he makes any more off color jokes, we're both fully prepared to complain to someone in charge.

Anyway, this is what I wore to my gallery closing (shaved my pits and everything)! The Illustration majors all had a show (that we spent like 6 hours hanging last semester) and we had a little party, complete with chips and Little Debbie cakes! A lot of us even sold prints, which was a really pleasant surprise!

Funny story: I was moving furniture around in my studio after taking these photos, yknow, strainin like the muscle woman I am, and this pretty little choker popped right off my neck! I fixed it tho, no one woulda even known.

Dress: Forever 21

Tights: Nordstrom Rack (?)
Choker: Gift from my Roomate
Bow: Relic from my Childhood

I also conducted my photoshoot for my thesis project on Saturday, and it was largely a success! All the girls did an excellent job, all decked out in red lips and kitchy prints. They were adorable and put my modelling skills to shame! I can't wait to share some images with you guys, but I've got a lot to sift through.

I really want to diversify my posts on here, but I don't know how to go about it. If I have to carry my big camera around everywhere I don't know if it'll happen. Any ideas? (Other than DIYs, I know I haven't  done one in ages.)

P.S. Walking all day in heels is way more comfortable than standing in them for 3 hours.

Anxiety and a Nice Dress

Okay, I'm gonna level with you guys. This week has been incredibly stressful. I've been a walking anxiety attack since Monday.

The worst part was my night class, because the teacher is awful. He spent the evening making fun of students and telling crude stories (because you know a teacher is cool if he curses). I don't want to hear about the time you peed on your friend's sleeping bag as a joke, thank you, not to mention how unprofessional that is. He really crossed a line from unpleasant to unacceptable when he told a story about how he made a girl cry in class. He "made the mistake of asking her what's wrong. You never ask a woman what's wrong because then she'll start sobbing. Turns out she was mentally unstable and medicated lololol" Yeah even if he wasn't basically bashing my entire demographic with that line, labelling women as hysterical and laughing about mental illness is not fucking okay. I left the class sweaty and shaking and have been anxious ever since.

This really isn't fun to talk about, and I don't like admitting my weaknesses (on my fashion blog) publicly, but the whole experience really triggered my anxiety disorder and all week the old symptoms have been coming in waves. It really hasn't been this bad since I went up for Specialization Review and learned I had GAD in the first place.

Luckily, Wednesday's class went a lot better (if it hadn't I was prepared to report his ass). It seems like the guy is annoying in general, but tolerable as long as he's not talking to you about his life or opinions... so I'm feeling better right now.

I also found out that my elective, which I thought was on advertising, is on journalism, which I have no clue about. Haha we'll see if I'm any good at on-screen interviews and opinion pieces! There are a multitude of other stressers that have been bugging me this week (and that wouldn't have effected me so badly if it weren't for my anxiety), but I'll keep them to myself in an effort to look on the positive side. I will say that my  thesis photoshoot is Saturday and I'm nervous as hell! I hope it all goes well.

I got this pretty new backpack for Christmas and I'm excited to carry it around school this semester. Unfortunately, it doesn't fit my camera. :(

Tights: Target

Anyway, here's to my next post being a more positive one!! (And I wish I could get this damn pink to stay in my hiar!)

Sass > Class

I'm heading back to campus tomorrow. So here are some pictures of me being sassy in my stunna shades (dollar tree chic) to brighten at least my mood.

Idk if you remember my little DIY cage skirt here, but I wore it once back in the Fall. One of the horizontal elastics hit me straight across the boobs and it looked a little too bondage (a little too ill-fitting bondage). So I took the top one off and now it's more of a modified suspender skirt. It'll def get some more wear now!

Gahh I have such a busy week coming up. I mean, there's the whole back to school thing, and then I'm doing a photoshoot for my senior thesis next Saturday! I'm so freakin nervous, I want everything to go perfectly! I'll be sharing some of it on Instagram, so follow me there if you want to see!

Other big news in my life: Travis is home from Italy!! I'm so glad we're in the same time zone again. It was such a hassle, I left to pick him up at the Columbia airport, where he was supposed to fly in from Charlotte, but they made him go through customs a second time and he missed his flight! I had to turn around and drive up to Charlotte, and then we had to go to Columbia to get his luggage (which hadn't arrived). I wanted to stay with him longer, but I had to come home to get my tires changed. :P Lamest ever.
